The 1st Zero Discrimination Run was held in the Central Stadium of OAKA with great success and in an atmosphere of great emotion, with the participation of the Lighthouse of Blind in Greece, in the Archery competition.
The race was organized by the Runners of Hope, in collaboration with the Association of Participants in Olympic Games and the Hellenic Paralympics Association , with the support of Tihio Race and the auspices of OAKA, and conveyed a resounding message in favor of equality in social inclusion and anti-discrimination, which the UN has proclaimed with great emphasis.
Visually impaired archers proved in competition that there are no targets that are not achievable. With perseverance and will, with inner gifts, with concentration and mental strength, they showed all the children and adults who participated, in the Zero Discrimination Run, that all human fears and difficulties can be overcome.
The participation of blind archery athletes in the competition took place following the initiative of Dimitris Anastasopoulos, a high school student at Psychiko College, athlete of Sports Club Kareas and archery champion with Pan-Hellenic distinctions, who was the initiator of the organized learning of archery for people with visual impairments at , where the first division of archery athletes for people with visual impairments in Greece operated.
The message and inspiration of this initiative are connected to the goal of all of us, to prove to ourselves that we are strong, that we can achieve our goals and that nothing is impossible. Everything is possible in our life, as long as we want it, try and believe in it.”
