On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, a coordinating meeting was held at OAKA for the participation of the Lighthouse of Blind in Greece in the 1st Zero Discrimination Run, the first fight against discrimination in Greece, which will take place at OAKA, on Sunday, May 14.The race organized by the Runners of Hope, in collaboration with the Association of Participants in Olympic Games and the Hellenic Paralympics Association, with the support of Tihio Race and the auspices of OAKA will bring resounding messages in favor of equality in the social integration and anti-discrimination that the United Nations Organization has proclaimed with great emphasis.Archery athletes with visual impairments have been systematically trained by the Sports Club Kareas for the last 12 months at the facilities of the Lighthouse of Blind in Kallithea and prove in sporting, spiritual and technical terms, but mainly in terms of strength of soul and will, that there are no goals that cannot be achieved are feasible.The meeting was attended by, among others, the President of Hope Runners, Mrs. Maria Stavara and the Secretary General, Mrs. Adamantia Akoumianaki, the President of the Lighthouse of Blind, Mrs. Maria Tzevelekou, the representative and member of the Board of Directors of Sports Club Karea, Mrs. Maria Kyrillopoulou, the representatives and competent officials of OAKA who will contribute with their efforts to the success of the race, Mr. Christos Koromilas, distinguished athlete and member of the Board of Directors of the Lighthouse of Blind, as well as Mrs. Georgia Mila, Director of Social Care and Development of the Lighthouse of Blind, and the journalist Mr. Yiannis Stathopoulos.The participation of blind Archery athletes in the race was done following the initiative of Dimitris Anastasopoulos, high school student, athlete of Sports Club Kareas, Archery champion with Pan-Hellenic honors, who was the initiator of the organized learning of archery for people with visual disabilities at the Lighthouse of the Blind, where the first division of archery athletes for people with visual disabilities in Greece operated.”
